A Sparky Personal Ad
We all have these little things we do that make stuff happen. Rituals. Processes, practices, perambulators of personal progress.
Personal ads. Wait. Huh?
I learned about writing a personal ad from Havi Brooks of Fluent Self. Her destuckification techniques are used all over the world and her blog is full of crunchy insights and chewy nuggets of inspiration.
If you want to leave for a bit and go read her stuff, I won’t be offended. She’s that awesome.
So her personal ad idea is wacky, right? Yeah – except that we’re all about the wacky here. You knew that, right? If this is your first time here, now you know. It gets weird sometimes. If it doesn’t get weird it gets boring and I can’t abide boring.
So I never tried the personal ad. I figured I would try that kinda thing Someday. I looked at iCal and it happens that today actually is Someday. How serendipitous.
So I wrote one. And I’m sharing it, which means you get to open up my head and look inside. Don’t unhook anything. Thanks.
A Tiny Sparky Personal Ad for the Workshop
So I’m hosting this really fun client management workshop in November in Phoenix. I need a few things to make it work.
What I Want
I need 20 fun-loving, talented, awesome creative freelancers and biz owners to attend and become amazing client management experts.
They all have or appreciate a wacky, goofy, off-the-wall sense of humor and like learning new stuff about working with people.
They don’t mind a little Weird Al Yankovic-style singing or the use of puppets.
They’ll go back to work with these extraordinary epiphanies about how to make their clients adore them.
They will feel free, emancipated, and not tied to a greasy client slave chain.
How this could work
I could tweet and post about it in a helpful, non-disgusting way.
My network of awesomeness could refer the right people to the workshop.
My readers could say, “That’s for me!” and climb on board.
My readers could send people my way who say, “That’s for me!”
I could contact some creative biz-type groups in Phoenix and let them know this is coming up soon.
My Commitment
I’ll prepare the most amazing content I can. I’ll take my odd-as-hell-yet-it-works client management know-how and turn it into a Fantastic Learning Experience. It will be part entertainment and part interactive learning.
I’ll reserve the coolest venue in Phoenix I can find. Design-ey. Nice colors. Light. People with beards and knee-high socks for atmosphere.
I will supply a breakfast of champions. It will include chocolate of some kind.
I’ll prepare take-home materials so they can keep improving as they work with clients going forward.
I’ll make myself available for lunch afterwards and create some one-on-one phone time with anyone who wants personal attention.
I will sing in public.
So that’s it. My ad. Let’s see what happens next. I promise I’ll share.
Quick update: I used some of personal ad to create my sign-up page. Bonus.
