‘Tis the season… to give downloadable gift tags

Christmas is awesome. Yes, I said it. Awesome.

I know there are plenty of people hating on the Christmas season. I’m sure they have their reasons and I’m not going to argue them away. I’m definitely not getting into the Jesus/Santa/Winter Solstice discussion. I’m just going to let my Christmas freak flag fly. Call me a product of crass commercialism, but don’t take away my soy nog.

I’ve always loved this season. I’m not a fan of crowds, but I practically grew up in malls and I still dig the vibe. Despite the jostling, there’s a feeling in the air that’s different from other times of the year. There’s an optimism in the shopping, even if it’s the window variety. I always have to get out shopping at some point, even if it’s just looking. Not to mention a reason to get my mittens on a salted caramel latte.

Growing up in Phoenix, a yearly family tradition was to drive around neighborhoods searching for the best Christmas decorations. In high school, driving a girl to the top of The Pointe to look at the lights was a cheap, yet romantic holiday date. Except that time the brakes went out. But that’s a story for another post.

What can I say? I’m a fan of Christmas. The Christmas-themed movies stay hidden away all year until Thanksgiving and then practically every day until New Year’s is a Rankin & Bass living room festival. Frosty and the Grinch are like old friends. Then there’s dinner with George Bailey and his father. Merry Christmas, movie house.

I’m also a fan of seasonal designs. You would think that we would run out after a few thousand years of color variations and stripey patterns. Thankfully, with every new artist being born, a completely unique take on seasonal design is created, too.

If you dig the Christmas season without apology like I do, I have some goodies for ya.

DCWV

If you’re into scrapbooking, you probably have some DCWV products hanging around. Even if you’re just kind of a crafty person, you’ll love the DCWV blog by Erin Madsen. Today I just saw a post on using DCWV scraps on your gift wrap.

Jenni keeps a supply of wrapping paper around, but we still make our own custom wrapping every year for a gift or two. I love using butcher paper with something colorful. And, I just really like gluing things. Hand me some scissors, paper and a glue stick and I’ll shut up for a few hours. Some things never change.

Firepants Gift Tags

Free gift tags! How could you say no? Unless you’re in a coma. In which case I’ll point you here when you’ve woken up.

Last year I made some snarky gift tags available for download. People enjoyed them, but this year I decided to jettison the sarcasm and bring on the iconic. So here you go, two pages of gift tags you can print in the warmth of your own home. No special paper or software needed, but I recommend a lightweight, white card stock (the colors will be brighter on the white). It’s totally up to you. It’s a free PDF download (just click on the image below). It’s standard U.S. letter size (apologies to my international friends). I also included a blank-background second page if you want to experiment. They’re free to use and share, just don’t sell them, okay?

To download, right-click and "Save as.."

And… Merry Christmas. Of course.

    Thanks for the cards!

Aww, these are gorgeous! Sarah emailed me about these and I’m so glad she did. I would love to link to them in an upcoming Gift Tag Roundup if you didn’t mind.

@Rachel I would love that, if it’s not too late. Thank you!

Your comment went to spam and I just released it from the dungeon. :)

Haha! After reading your post after this one, I had to say….

    “These are super-CUTE!!!!!”

    (note the multiple exclamation points;-)

Thanks for sharing – and a posting on OnePrettyThing.com (Rachel’s site, from the comment above) brings in major traffic, so congrats!
    Best,
    Carly
