Sketch for Illustration Friday topic "Pretend"

 As in, "I'm going to pretend I didn't just see a UFO outside my window."

If you're just joining me, I'd like to tell you about this excellent site for illustrators of all levels, called "Illustration Friday." As you can imagine, every week there's a new topic. Here's how the IF people describe themselves:

Illustration Friday is a weekly creative outlet/participatory art exhibit for illustrators and artists of all skill levels. It was designed to challenge participants creatively. We believe that every person has a little creative bone in their body. Illustration Friday just gives a no-pressure, fun excuse to use it. No clients looking for a particular thing. No one judging the outcome of the work. It's a chance to experiment and explore and play with visual art. So welcome, novices and pros alike.

If you're a pro illustrator, doodler, or just like to express yourself creatively every once in a while (sometimes I use Post-Its), Illustration Friday is a cool thing to do. Even better, it's free.
